Timber Trails was founded in 1996 in historic downtown Livingston Montana as an outdoor company with a passion for the great outdoors, high quality products and customer service, and giving back to the community. We provide greater access to the outdoors with information and the gear to get you there. Timber Trails carries the best brands on the market in activewear clothing, hats, sunglasses, footwear, maps and guidebooks, backpacks, sleeping bags and camping supplies, bikes, skis, snowshoes and related gear. See our Products page for more information. We guarantee every product we sell and gladly accept returns and/or exchanges; no sale is ever final and our goal is 100% satisfaction.
Timber Trails also rents bikes, skis and snowshoes. Our service department does maintenance work on any make and model of bikes and skis. We believe in the importance of maximum utility of these modes of transportation and their crucial role in getting people outside. Renting is a great way to try new equipment with a minimum investment and we have a new rental fleet every season to reflect changing technology and giving customers access to the latest and greatest gear.
Community support is a cornerstone of our foundation and we’re grateful to be able to unfailingly support nearly every good cause in our community. Being in business is a direct avenue to giving back to our community and it’s not only rewarding but makes being in business worthwhile. In addition to supporting the many local charities, events, and causes, we host a free annual Backcountry Film Festival with all proceeds from the raffle and auction benefiting Livingston Loaves and Fishes, free ski waxing at Katabatic Brewing, and weekly summer mountain bike rides, among other activities. Timber Trails is also dedicated to advocating for conservation of wilderness and preservation of public lands and water.
The Livingston Montana area provides endless opportunities for outdoor adventures and Timber Trails provides the information and gear to get you out there. We’re happy to share advice about local trails and recreation areas and have maps for explorers of Yellowstone National Park, The Bridger, Gallatin, Crazy and Absaroka-Beartooth Mountain ranges.
"Timber Trails is AWESOME...they went out of their way to adjust my alpine ski boots and gave me a bunch of tips for getting the most comfortable fit. They also rent snowshoe and cross-country ski gear, and will tell you where to go in the Paradise Valley. Will definitely frequent this place in the future."
"Timber Trails is Park County’s premier outdoor shop."
"I always get the best service from Thomas in the back shop with all my biking and skiing needs. Rob does a great job with the sales and keeping up on the latest gear. Always a pleasure doing business at Timber Trails with the Dale Sexton crew."
